EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The No. 10 Washington University in St. Louis women's cross country team opened its 2026 season by hosting the annual Gabby Reuveni Invite. The meet took place at the SIUE 5K Cross Country Course.
The Bears showed off their depth to claim the meet victory with 29 points, narrowly edging out second place Div. II Maryville (Mo.), who finished with 30 points. Jefferson College finished in third place with 92 points while Webster rounded out the field in fourth with 101 points.

Lucinda Laughlin was the first Bear to cross the finish line, finishing third overall, with a time of 19:16. Sophomore
Taylor Buese was the next WashU runner to complete the course in sixth place (19:23.2) to begin six-straight Bears to finish. First-year
Lucy Luetkemeyer (19:27.9), sophomore
Lucy Peterson (19:31.6), and sophomore
Leah Sekulich (19:35.6) finished in seventh through nine place to complete the scoring for WashU.
Junior
Lauren Raley (19:36.4) and junior
Sally Carrington (19:36.4) finished in ninth and 10
th place overall.
WashU will have two weeks to prepare for its next meet on Saturday, Sept. 19 when it travels to Terre Haute, Ind. for the annual Jim McNichols Invite hosted by Indiana State at the LaVern Gibson XC Course.
