ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field team hosted the first of two, back-to-back meets on Thursday and Friday with the WashU Distance Carnival. Over the two days, 1,400 athletes competed in five events, including: 10k, 5k, 3k steeplechase, 1500m and 800m.
WashU's Top Results:
- 10k
- Senior Matthew Hornung finished in 50th place with a time of 30:44.97
- There were 175 entrants who finished the event
- 5k
- Junior Conor Daly and senior Jack Maranz nearly went back-to-back with Daly finishing in 61st place with a time of 14:59.08 and Maranz finishing 63rd in a time of 15:00.10
- There were over 346 entrants who finished with over 25 who started, but did not finish
- 3k Steeplechase
- Sophomore Will Liu was the lone Bear in the event, finishing 29th with a time of 9:38.35
- 1500m
- Senior Frankie Lynch was ninth in the event with a time of 3:48.97
- Junior James Corbett was less than four seconds behind him but finished 18th in 3:52.46
- 800m
WashU will host the 2025 WashU Invite on Saturday, March 29, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a special ceremony at 10:30 am to recognize the WashU Class of 2025.
