ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's outdoor track and field team wrapped up their annual WashU Invite on Saturday, with all the track events and the remaining field ones. The meet was smaller and fewer individuals than the WashU Distance Carnival that finished on Friday.
Prior to the start of the track events, the WashU senior class was honored with a special recognition ceremony.
No team scores were kept.
Top Finishes:
- Hammer Throw
- Sophomore Ian Murphy finished in fifth place after throwing a distance of 47.79m
- Shot Put
- Both first-year Scott Cook and senior Davin Hickman-Chow finished in the top 10.
- Cook was eighth with a throw of 12.72m while Hickman-Chow was 10th with a throw of 12.04m
- Javelin
- Junior Cal Newell competed in his first javelin event and finished in sixth place with a throw of 47.90m
- First year Benjamin Long was right behind him in seventh place with a throw of 46.96m
- Long Jump
- Senior Carson Page finished sixth with a jump of 6.56m on his opening attempt
- Triple Jump
- Long would head to the other end of the field for the triple jump, finishing 10th with a leap of 12.79m
- Pole Vault
- Junior Peter Lichtenberger won with his clear of 5.07m on his second attempt.
- Seniors Hayden Kunkel (5.02m) and George Bourdier (4.92m) finished in second and third, respectively
- First-year William Coyne rounded out the top five with a clear of 4.32m
- High Jump
- Discus
- Murphy and junior Hunter Rocker went back-to-back in sixth and seventh places
- Murphy threw a distance of 40.39m while Rocker tossed the discus 39.93m
- 1500m
- 400m
- 800m
- 400m Hurdles
- Senior Dayton Lasack finished sixth with a time of 56.12
- First-year William Kamp also finished in the top 10 with a time of 57.22, in ninth place
- 200m
- 4x400m
- The team of Brazil, Fairchild, Frohling, and Lasack finished in third place with a time of 3:16.28
WashU will have a quick break before returning to action on Friday, Apr. 10 at the UW Platteville Invite.
