No. 21 Men's Indoor Track & Field Finish Atop Field at Friday Night Spikes #3

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A quick turnaround for the No. 21 Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field team as the Bears hit the road to take part in the Friday Night Spikes #3 hosted by Rose-Hulman on Friday evening.

The Bears finished claimed the team narrowly took home the top team score with 37. DePauw and Millikin both finished with 30 points while Indiana State (28 points) and host Rose-Hulman (25 points) rounded out the to five.

WashU will return to the road next Saturday when they pay a visit to Illinois Wesleyan for the Keck Select Invite on Saturday, February 8.

  • 60m Hurdles
    • First-year Liam Elliott set a new personal-best with a time of 8.79 in his prelim heat before breaking record again in the finals with a 8:78 to finish sixth.
  • 5000m
    • A pair of Bears finished in the top-five with junior Maxwell Latshaw finishing second in a time of 15:37.13.
    • Senior Alexander Gadin had finished fifth in the event wit a time of 15:45.89.
  • 60m    
    • Senior Elvin Binagi was runner-up with a time of 7.03.
    • Junior Samuel Pan also reached the finals and finished eighth in a time of 7.32
  • Weight Throw
    • In a deep weight throw field, first-year Ian Murphy reached the final and closed out in seventh place with a distance of 12.96m.
  • 200m
    • Junior George Bourdier took home second place with a time of 22.56.
    • Binagi was right behind him in third place with a time 22.71.
  • 800m
  • Mile
    • First-year William Ruszkowski was the top Bear finisher in second place with a time of 4:32.44.
    • Classmate Josh Poeschel also finished in the top five with a time of 4:36.43.

  • High Jump
    • Junior Eli Goldman finished third with a height of 1.85m
  • Pole Vault
    • For the second meet in a row, senior Tommaso Maiocco won the pole vault, this time with height of 4.95m
    • He was one of four Bears in the top-five as sophomore Peter Lichtenberger (4.95m), junior Hayden Kunkel (4.80m), and Bourdier (4.50m) finished third through fifth, respectively.
