AUSTIN, Texas – Washington University in St. Louis volleyball junior Sam Buckley was named College Sport Communicators Third Team Academic All-America, the organization announced Tuesday.
This marks the first time the reigning UAA Player of the Year has earned CSC Academic All-America honors after earning Academic All-District honors the past two seasons.
Buckley, who played in every match for the consistently nationally ranked Bears' volleyball team, holds a 3.58 grade point average (GPA) while majoring in Accounting.
This season Buckley played all 36 matches for WashU while dishing out 1,472 assists. Her career total of 4,045 is currently sixth all time in program history. She also finished the season with 961 career digs.
In her career she has been named the AVCA Rookie of the Year as well as being named an AVCA All-American each of her first three seasons (First Team – 2022, Honorable Mention – 2023, Second Team – 2024). She has also been named the UAA Rookie and Player of the Year during her time as a Bear while also earning a spot on the First Team All-UAA each year.
This season WashU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after reaching the UAA Championship match against Emory. The Bears finished ranked 12th in the final AVCA Coaches Poll of the season.
