Buckley Named AVCA Second Team All-America

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Not since Caroline Dupont (2013-2016) has a member of the Washington University in St. Louis volleyball team been named an AVCA All-American three times until now. Junior setter Sam Buckley has been selected to the 2024 AVCA Div. III Second Team All-America for her play throughout the season.

This fall, Buckley guided the offense that finished the season 29-8 and had a spot in the NCAA Tournament Second Round at the Whitewater Regional.

She finished her third year as a Bear with 1,472 assists, totaling 4,045 thus far in her career. That number places her sixth all-time for assists in program history.

Buckley also completed the season with 53 kills, 26 service aces, 313 digs, and 50 total blocks.

Her other awards this season include being named the AVCA National Player of the Week on Sept. 23, UAA Setter of the Week on 10/28, UAA Player of the Year, First Team All-UAA, and AVCA All-Region 8 First Team.

Like Dupont, Buckley was named the AVCA Rookie of the Year as a freshman and had a spot on the First Team All-America. In both their sophomore campaigns, they both earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-America Honors. Buckley will look to push the correlation even further as Dupont earned second team status as a senior.
