No. 1 Women’s Track and Field Sees Seven Event Wins; Claims Team Title at Augustana’s Meet of Champions

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team participated in the two-day Augustana Meet of Champions, Friday-Saturday, April 19-20. The Bears secured seven event victories.

WashU won the Augustana Meet of Champions by racking up 196.50 points.

Friday's Top Finishers:

Discus Throw:

Jenae Bothe generated a throw of 36.82m to snag 12th
Kally Mack notched 13th with a heave of 36.75m
Taylor Simpson (34.81m) and Mikayla Wise (34.62m) finished 17th and 19th

Javelin Throw:

Maddie Moenickheim posted a mark of 25.45m, good for 20th
Molly Morton secured 22nd with a heave of 25.08m
Sofia Rosenzweig (22.90m) took 28th

100 Meters:

In the field of 69, Nicole Stewart notched third with her finals time of 12.10

200 Meters:

Jasmine Wright crossed the finish line with a time of 25.08, good for fourth
Maya Davis (25.763) and Kylie Spytek (25.764) earned 10th and 11th
Julia Coric (26.55), Gemma Pleas (26.72), and Cecille Figueroa (26.77) took 21st-23rd

400 Meters:

Kathryn Leighty hauled in fifth with a mark of 1:01.63

800 Meters:

WashU posted the top five times in the 800-meter event
Emma Kelley turned in a time of 2:08.17 to win by nearly five seconds
Danielle Schultz finished runner-up with her time of 2:13.85
Ally Sarussi (2:15.41), Caroline Echols (2:15.58), and Izzy Gorton (2:16.65) notched third-fifth
Lily Dipple (2:19.40) and Cate Stevens (2:19.72) secured eighth and ninth

1,500 Meters:

Ally Sarussi won the event as she bested the field with her time of 4:39.39
Alexandra Blake finished second with a mark of 4:41.79
Helena Teixeira-DaSilva (4:42.89) manufactured fourth and Virginia Pridgen (4:44.46) earned sixth
Isabel Erdmann (4:48.06) and Katie Rector (4:48.08) notched eighth and ninth

5,000 Meters:

Kristin Loftus spun a runner-up run with her time of 18:21.05
Vivienne Larson posted third with a mark of 18:44.57

100 Meter Hurdles:

Lauren Gay claimed the 100-meter hurdles title with her winning time of 14.53
Charis Riebe took seventh with a time of 16.19

400 Meter Hurdles:

Ruby Kaplan welcomed the win with a mark of 1:06.78

3,000 Steeplechase:

Marlee Fradkin registered seventh as she crossed the finish line with a time of 12:19.86

4 x 100 Relay:

WashU's team of Maya Davis, Lauren Gay, Jasmine Wright, and Nicole Stewart won the relay as the team ran a time of 47.33
WashU's team of Cecille Figueroa, Gemma Pleas, Natalie Swinehart, and Gayle Henderson took sixth with a time of 51.06

4 x 400 Relay:

WashU's relay team of Emma Kelley, Ally Sarussi, Caroline Echols, and Kylie Spytek won with a mark of 3:54.95
The team of Nicole Stewart, Gayle Henderson, Cate Christopher, and Danielle Schultz took runner-up with a time of 3:57.06

High Jump:

Ebun Opata tied for seventh with a jump of 1.47m
Maddie Moenickheim tied for 10th with her mark of 1.47m

Yasmin Ruff won the pole vault event with her clearance of the 3.98m bar
