Box Score 2 AZUSA/IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team opened its west coast swing with a pair of dual matches, Monday, March 11. Head coach Roger Follmer sent a split squad, with half playing against Division II Azusa Pacific University and the other half squaring off against NAIA Westcliff University to cover the two matches. WashU took down Westcliff, 6-1, and dropped a singles only match to Azusa Pacific, 2-4.

Doubles
Utilizing the Division I, II, and NAIA scoring, the Bears swept the doubles matches to take the one available doubles point.
Senior Jared Phillips and sophomore Eric Kuo, playing at No. 1 doubles, defeated Borna Devald and Karlo Krolo in a close 7-5 match.
At No. 2 doubles, senior Jeremy Ouyang and sophomore Case Fagan spun a 6-3 decision over Maxence Kupfert and Felix Veyhle.
First year Daniel Radke and first year Nathan Tam cruised to the 6-2 victory over Victor Chaix and Adrien Gagniere.
Singles
In singles action, at the No. 1 spot, Phillips swept Veyhle in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Kuo, playing at No. 2 singles, lost his first set, then came storming back to take down Kupfert in three, 3-6, 6-0, 10-7.
Junior John Fakouri welcomed the straight set win over Devald, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 singles position.
At No. 4 singles, Fagan won a 7-5, 6-3 contest over Chaix.
Radke, competing at the No. 6 singles spot, won a tight three-set match against Ali Erkan Bebek, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Ouyang dropped his No. 5 singles match against Gagniere, 6-7 (5-7), 3-6.
No. 2 WashU 2, Azusa 4
WashU and Azusa Pacific only played a singles match, as the three scheduled doubles matches were abandoned.
Junior Stefan Hester claimed his No. 4 singles match against Brody Bohren, 6-1, 6-7 (7-8), 6-1.
Senior Henri Ohl defeated Albertus du Plessis in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
At No. 1 singles, Gaurav Singh dropped a tight three-set match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Elias Emilio Walter.
Sophomore Colin Scruggs fell in three sets to Soeren Grandke at No. 2 singles, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
At No. 5 singles, junior Scott Yamamoto fell short against Max Schmidhauser, 1-6, 3-6.
The Bears will see a quick turnaround, playing another two matches, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12. WashU will tangle with No. 25 Caltech (10:30 a.m. PT start) and Irvine Valley College (1:30 p.m. PT start).
