St. Louis, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team continued play on day two of the ITA Regionals on Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center and Tao Tennis Center.
Abhi Ramireddy had a great day in singles play and collected two victories to advance on to the semifinals tomorrow.
The fourth-seeded Ramireddy rolled past his opponent from Greenville in the round of 16 by a score 6-2,6-2 and then fought past ninth-seeded Jack Bulger of Denison in a three-set win (6-4, 3-6, 6-2) in the quarterfinals.
The Waller, Texas native is the only WashU player remaining in the main draw of singles and will face fifth-seed Ansh Shah of CWRU, who defeated the No. 1 seed in the draw James Hopper also from CWRU in the quarters.
Ramireddy also had an abundance of success in doubles with partner
Phuc Huynh, as they cruised to decisive victories over Kenyon 8-2 and Covenant 8-3 in the round of 16 and quarterfinals.
The duo will match up with the No. 4 seed from Denison (Jack Bulger & Marc-Lennart Harms) in the semis at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Gaurav Singh who had a great effort in the round of 16, taking down CWRU 8-6.
However, in the quarterfinals they had a tough matchup against the No. 1 overall seed also from CWRU (James Hopper/ Vishwa Aduru) and fell 8-3.

Pato Garcia Muriel were the third doubles pair to reach quarterfinals for WashU after defeating the No. 6 seeded team from Kenyon 8-5. In the quarters, Scruggs/Garcia Muriel were defeated by the No. 4 seed from Denison 8-4.
In the main singles draw, the No. 2 seed Huynh powered his way through to the quarterfinals earning a 6-4, 6-0 victory over John Walentowicz from Chicago, but was edged in a three-set battle to Emil Grantcharov from Chicago in the quarters (6-1, 5-7, 4-6).
Jared Phillips nearly found his way into the quarterfinals to matchup with teammate Ramireddy, but fell to the ninth-seeded Bulger of Denison in a tight three-setter (6-1, 5-7, 5-7) in the round of 16.
In the Green draw, first-year
Colin Scruggs performed well in the opening round with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lake Forest and then dropped an 8-7 (4) tiebreaker loss to Kenyon in the quarterfinals.
John Fakouri won his first-round match against Principia 6-2, 6-2, but fell 8-6 in the quarterfinals to Case Western Reserve.
Also competing in the Red draw was
James Shaheen and
Lucas Guy. Shaheen won his first-round contest against DePauw with ease (6-3, 6-1) but was unable to get past the quarters with an 8-6 loss to Denison.
Guy worked his way to the semifinals of the draw with two victories, winning 6-3, 6-4 in the first round and 8-6 in the quarterfinals before a tough 8-5 loss to CWRU in the semifinals.
Sunday's doubles semifinal matches are slated for an 8 a.m. start at Tao Tennis Center. The main draw singles semifinals will proceed after the conclusion of doubles.
