Indianapolis, Ind. – The Washington University in St. Louis swimmers opened up the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday at the IU Natatorium.
MEN
Senior Kevin Hao finished fourth in the 200 IM finals with a time of 1:48.43. This marks his fifth career All-America honor and second in the 200 IM. Senior Nathan Katz finished eighth in the consolation final for 16th overall with a time of 1:51.31.
After finishing first in the preliminaries, junior Mason Kelber claimed sixth in the 500 freestyle finals with a time of 4:26.69 to earn his sixth career All-America nod, including his third in the 500.
In the morning preliminaries, first-year Pace Edwards finished 20th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:31.03 while first-year Ryan Hillery finished 31st in 4:32.99.
WOMEN
On the women's side, the 200 medley relay team of Kylie Juan, Grace Wakiyama, Sandra Meszaros and Grace Carey finished 15th overall and seventh in the consolation final with a time of 1:44.36.
In the preliminaries, sophomore Eve Kearns finished with a time of 2:09.91 while senior Grace Wakiyama swam a time of 2:11.22.
Day two of the NCAA Championships features the 200 freestyle relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay.
