Atlanta, Ga. – The Washington University in St. Louis swimming and diving teams competed in day three of the UAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday.
After three days of competition, the No. 12 men's team sits in third with 885 points while the No. 12 women's team is in fourth with 654.5 points.
MEN
The team of junior Mason Kelber, first-year Pace Edwards, first-year Ryan Hillery and sophomore Mark Lipkin headlined the day for the Bears, winning the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:36.30 breaking the previous UAA record.
The Bears opened the evening with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Kyle Wolford, Kevin Hao, Barclay Dale and Austin Bick raced to an NCAA B cut time of 1:29.40, shaving more than two seconds off the preliminary time.
In the first individual race of the night, the 400 IM, senior Nathan Katz took third place, swimming an NCAA B cut time of 3:55.44. First-year Danny Sibley finished second in the B final and 10th overall with an NCAA B cut time of 3:59.47 while Hillery took 11th in an NCAA B cut time of 4:00.24.
Dale, a senior, finished third in the 100 butterfly, racing to an NCAA B cut time of 48.63. Junior Jonathan Ma took sixth, swimming an NCAA B cut of 49.23.
The Bears had three in the 200 freestyle finals, led by junior Kelber's fourth-place finish in 1:38.40. First-year Pace Edwards took fifth in 1:38.62 while Lipkin took seventh with a time of 1:39.30.
Hao, a senior, claimed sixth in the 100 breaststroke, racing to an NCAA B cut time of 55.28. First-year Jonathan Kim finished second in the B final and 10th overall with a time of 56.09.
Sophomore Alexander McCormick had the highest individual finish of the day for the Bears, taking second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.34. Wolford, also a sophomore, tied for fourth, hitting an NCAA B cut time of 49.46.

WOMEN
The Bears opened the night with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Kylie Juan, Maggie Teng, Sandra Meszaros and Grace Carey swam to an NCAA B cut time of 1:45.03.
WashU's highest finish in the 400 IM was sophomore Eve Kearns, who took 15th with a time of 4:36.97.
Meszaros, a junior, took sixth in the 100 butterfly, hitting an NCAA B cut of 55.71.
First-year Lauren Antonowich was the top finisher for the Bears in the 200 freestyle, finishing fifth in the B final and 13th overall with a time of 1:54.33.
WashU had a pair of swimmers in the 100 breaststroke finals, led by Teng, who took sixth with a time of 1:05.21. Senior Grace Wakiyama claimed seventh in 1:05.37. Sophomore Abby Liff finished second in the B final and 10th overall with a time of 1:05.69 while first-year Riyapreet Sahota took 12th in 1:06.19.
The Bears top finisher in the 100 backstroke was senior Abby Wilson who took third in the B final and 11th overall with a time of 57.16.
WashU wrapped up the day with a fourth-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of Antonowich, Lauren Waire, Isabella Barrientos and Kayleigh Lewis raced to a time of 7:39.96.
In diving action, first-year Noa Miller finished 16th overall with a score of 351.80 while junior Rosie Finglass finished 19th with 340.70 points.

The Bears wrap up the UAA Championships tomorrow with the 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.
