Men in Third, Women in Fourth After Day Two of UAA Championships

RESULTS

Atlanta, Ga. – The Washington University in St. Louis swimming and diving teams completed day two of the 2022 UAA Championships on Thursday.

After two days, the No. 12 women are in fourth place with 282 points while the No. 12 men are in third place with 389.5 points.

MEN

The Bears had three second-place finishes, starting with Mason Kelber in the 500 freestyle. Kelber swam to a time of 4:25.50, behind NYU's Graham Chatoor who took first in 4:24.75. First-year Pace Edwards placed fifth overall, hitting an NCAA B cut time of 4:30.86.

Seniors Kevin Hao and Nathan Katz finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 IM. Hao took second with a time of 1:48.66 while Katz raced to a third-place time of 1:48.76. Both times are NCAA B cuts.

Senior Barclay Dale claimed second in the 50 freestyle, racing to an NCAA B cut time of 20.30 – a new team record – finishing behind Emory's Nick Goudie who took first in 19.90. Sophomore Austin Bick also placed among the top eight, taking seventh in 20.80.

In relay action, the Bears team of Bick, Jonathan Ma, Hao and Dale finished fourth in the 200 freestyle relay, hitting an NCAA B cut time of 1:21.84.

In the 400 medley relay, Dale, Katz, Ma and Bick finished third with an NCAA B cut time of 3:18.01.

WOMEN

The Bears' highest finish on day two of competition was in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Noelle DiClemente, Sandra Meszaros, Lauren Antonowich and Grace Carey took third with an NCAA B cut time of 1:34.13.

WashU finished fourth in the 400 medley relay as the team of Kylie Juan, Grace Wakiyama, Meszaros and Carey raced to an NCAA B cut time of 3:48.94.

Sophomore Lauren Waire finished 24th overall in the 500 freestyle, racing to a time of 5:12.71.

First-year Alice Han was the top Bears' finisher in the 200 IM, finishing sixth in the B final.

DiClemente, a junior, won the 50 freestyle B final, taking ninth overall with a time of 23.76. Meszaros finished 11th, swimming a time of 23.88.

The Bears return to action tomorrow for day three of the championships, which features the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and women's 3-meter diving.
