Cross Country Teams Earn First-Place Finishes at North Central Red/White Invite

Warrenville, Ill. – The Washington University in St. Louis cross country teams had another strong showing on Thursday, recording two first-place finishes at the North Central Red/White Invitational three mile run at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Ill. 
 
Thursday's race also featured host North Central, along with Aurora, and Moody Bible Institute.
 
For the women's team, sophomore Abby Patterson was the top finisher and set a new personal-best 3-mile time of 17:38.9 for a first-place overall finish.
 
With 19 team points, WashU collected five top-10 finishes in total, as first-year Kristin Loftus placing second overall after running a time of 18:10.8.
 
In third-place was Julia Thigpen (18:22.7) while first-year Riley Clark was fifth (18:38.2).
 
Also finishing in the top-10 was Meredith Lang, who was eighth overall, clocking in at 18:57.9.
 
Senior Jenna Murdock ran hard and posted a time of 19:18.8, which was good for 11th place in the field.
 
Behind Murdock was Alexa Anderson in 12th (19:24.4) and Alicia Repka finished in 13th (19:34.1).
 
Additionally, Ella Cerny was 16th (19:54.5) and Kavita Shah placed 21st (20:25.8).
 
On the men's side, the Bears were led behind a strong performance from junior Frankie Lynch, who finished in first (14:59.0). Lynch won the race by nearly 10 full seconds, as he paced a 4:59.7 per mile time.
 
The Bears completed the race posting a perfect team score with 15 points, earning nine of the top-10 finishes on the day.
 
At runner-up was Jamie Olson (15:08.1), while Micah Benson was third (15:17.1).
 
In fourth-place, Jesse Sanchez crossed the line at 15:26.7 and Alexander Bullard recorded a fifth-place effort with a mark of 15:33.3.
 
Also placing in the top-10 for the men were Maxwell Latshaw in sixth (15:36.0), Alec Means in seventh (15:44.7) and James Corbett (15:44.7).
 
The Bears will next get set to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional on November 12 in Geneva, Ill.
