Lansing, Mich. – The Washington University in St. Louis cross country teams had another quality performance and effort on Saturday at the NCAA National Championship race at Forest Akers Golf Course in Lansing.Â
Entering Saturday's race, the men made their 13th consecutive appearance at nationals, while the women's team ran in their 9th straight NCAA Championship.Â

The Bears had to battle cold weather and snowy conditions, as the No. 7 women registered a sixth-place overall team finish and the No. 25 men's team finished in 18th place.Â

Johns Hopkins won the national title on the women's side while MIT claimed the championship in the men's race.Â

The women's squad has now recorded a top-10 finish for the eighth consecutive year at nationals. In addition, seniors Emily Konkus and Lindsay Ott earned All-American honors after placing inside the top-40 of the field.

Konkus, who was the UAA runner-up, was 13th out of 292 runners on Saturday, crossing the finish line with a time of 22:13.3.Â

Ott was not too far behind Konkus and marked the next best finish on the day for the Bears, as she placed 23rd overall at 22:30.4.Â

WashU finished with four top-50 finishes on Saturday, as first-year Katie Rector was 46th with a mark of 22:48.2.Â

Alexandra Blake was next in line in 49th place, tallying a time of 22:53.1.Â

Also competing in the championship race for the Bears was Avery McCammon, who was 106th in the field, checking in at 23:39.5, while Ella Behrens notched a time of 23:38.0 and was 128th.Â

Additionally, first-year Jillian Heth completed the race with a time of 24:54.7.Â

On the men's side, WashU was led by senior Matt Kusak, who placed 77th in the race with a time of 25:58.5.Â

Following Kusak was senior Jeff Candell, who finished right behind Kusak in 81st place at 25:59.5.Â

Matthew Hornung was 94th overall at 26:03.1 and Thomas Penney marked an overall time of 26:22.6, good for a finish in 157th place.Â

Furthermore, Alexander Gadin ran hard for a time of 26:40.3 in 198th place and Fernando Ribeiro Duraes finished with a time of 26:50.5.Â
First-year Oliver Witt also competed in the championships on Saturday and ran a time of 28:10.5.
