St. Louis, Mo., April 1, 2021 – The Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team posted its third-consecutive uncontested win with a 9-0 sweep of Webster Thursday evening at the Tao Tennis Center.
The Bears (3-1) didn't drop a game in three doubles wins and Webster (2-6) only took two games in singles play.
The matchup gave several WashU players their first varsity playing time of the season including sophomore Lucas Guy and juniors James Shaheen and Sam Komis while first year Jared Phillips played in the first match of his career.
Scott Altmeyer and Abhi Ramireddy posted an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles to remain undefeated on the season (4-0) while Phillips and Gaurav Singh won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles and Guy and Komis won 8-0 at No. 3.
Senior Ethan Hillis and Altmeyer ran their season records to 4-0 in singles play after Hillis won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 and Altemeyer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2. Singh won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles while Komis, Jeremy Ouyang and Shaheen each posted 6-0 wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 respectively.
The Bears will hit the road Saturday for a 2 p.m. match against Gustavus Adolphus in Moline, Ill.
