Ligonier, Pa., Oct. 8, 2019 – Freshman Annie Mascot shot a three-over par 75 to lead the No. 2-ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the CMU Tartan Invitational held Tuesday at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa.
The field included eight ranked team, including top-10 teams No. 1 NYU and No. 7 and host Carnegie Mellon.
After round one was cancelled to rain in the Pittsburgh area, WashU fired a 329 on day two to finish fifth. Carnegie Mellon (313) rallied for a four-stroke win over top-ranked NYU (317) to win the team title.
Mascot earned All-Tournament Team honors after finishing in a tie for third place, finishing two shots off the lead. Ashley Lung of NYU claimed medalist honors with a one-over 73.
Senior Emily Carnes also had a top-20 finish for WashU with a 11-over 83 to finish in a tie for 17th place.
WashU closes out its Fall season on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 14-15, at the Lady Redwolves Classic hosted by Division I Arkansas State University at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
