Rebekah Roller enters her fifth season as a full-time assistant coach for the Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team.
Since joining Jim Conlon's staff four years ago, the Bears have posted a 56-4-4 (.906) overall record, won three University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, made three trips to the NCAA Tournament and one Final Four.
In the spring of 2021, Roller earned her United Soccer Coaches Sports Performance Diploma and took over as the director of WashU women's soccer camps. Roller also mentored two 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in Katy Mockett and Emma Greenfield.
In 2019, WashU had an 18-1-3 record and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 11th time in school history. WashU also won its fifth-straight UAA title. She mentored two United Soccer Coaches All-America selections in Gabbie Cesarone and Taylor Cohen, in addition to a pair of CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in Katy Mockett and Kristen Reikersdorfer. Roller was part of the 2019 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Central Region Staff of the Year.
In 2018, the Bears posted a 21-1 overall record and a trip to the NCAA Division III National Semifinals for the third time in the last four years. WashU also won its fourth-straight UAA title and set single-season school records for fewest goals allowed (6), shutouts (16), wins (21), winning percentage (.955), and consecutive wins (21). That year, Roller and the coaching staff was named the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year.
Roller was also part of the United Soccer Coaches Central Region Staff of the Year and UAA Coaching Staff of the Year. In addition, The Bears had four student-athletes earn All-America honors for the first time in school history – Maggie Crist (first), Darcy Cunningham (first), Hannah Menard (first) and Taylor Cohen (second).
In addition to her role at WashU, Roller joined the coaching staff of at Ursuline Academy and a goalkeeper coach and trainer. In 2021, Ursuline won the MSHSAA Class 2 State championship for the first time in school history, as well as the MSHSAA Class 2 District 2 championship.
Upon graduation from DePaul University in 2014, Roller spent two years playing professional soccer. She played for Merilappi United in the Finnish Premiere League in 2015, and was on the Chicago Red Stars roster in the National Women’s Soccer League during the summer of 2016. She concluded her playing career in January 2017 after spending six months with A.S.D. Mozzanica in the Italian Premiere League.
During her playing days at DePaul, Roller scored two goals and had 10 assists from the midfield while tying the school record for most career starts (80) and games played (82).
As a senior, Roller helped lead the Blue Demons to the Big East Conference Tournament Championship game and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She was a second-team All-Big East selection in 2013 after starting all 21 games.
Roller earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications from DePaul, while double majoring in communication studies, communication and media studies. She was named to the DePaul Dean’s List every quarter of enrollment and also to the DePaul Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Roller was also a four-time Big East All-Academic Team member.
