KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team advanced five singles players and two doubles teams to Sunday at the ITA Fall Regional, hosted by Kalamazoo.
Singles
Junior
Ally Lin defeated Lake Forest's Lilliam Dockam 6-1, 6-1 and advanced to beat Chicago's Lily Zawaneh 1-6, 6-1, 10-5 in the Round of 16. She will play Chicago's Sarena Biria tomorrow morning in the quarterfinals.
Graduate student
Leila Epstein defeated CWRU's Atra Biria 6-4, 6-3 and advanced to beat Kenyon's Kiara Komlodi 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 10-5 in the Round of 16. She will face Kenyon's Lora Szabo tomorrow morning in the quarterfinals.
First-year
Cassan Li beat Kenyon's Chelsea Chakanyuka 7-5, 6-4 and advanced to beat Chicago's Anika Paul 6-4, 7-5 in the Round of 16. She will play senior
Eleanor Archer in tomorrow's quarterfinal.
Archer beat North Park's Alexandra Pugachova 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 and moved on to beat Hope's Gabriela Rocker 6-3, 6-3. She'll face Li in the quarterfinal tomorrow.
Junior
Caitlin Bui defeated Ohio Northern's Audrey Austin 6-1, 6-1 before moving on to beat Chicago's Isabelle Chong 6-2, 7-6 (7-5). She will take on Chicago's Clara Zou in tomorrow's quarterfinal.
First-year
Emilie Lew lost to Kenyon's Ana Brand 1-6, 3-6 in the Round of 32.
Doubles
Top-seeded Archer and Bui beat Hope's Rocker and Sophia Grzesiak 8-2 in the Round of 16 before moving on to beat Chicago's Ariana Liu and Sunny Lu 8-1 in the quarterfinal. They will play CWRU's Gabrielle Lee and Shayli Dodia tomorrow in the semifinal.
Junior
Sam Slowik and Li beat Kenyon's Chakanyuka and Komlodi 8-7 (8-6) in the Round of 16 before falling to Lee and Dodia 8-7 (8-6) in the quarterfinal.
Sophomore
Lily Brecknock and Lew defeated Hope's Kaitlyn Stievater and Anna Kolb 8-7 (7-4) in the Round of 16 before falling to Chicago's Rosalyn Chan and Zou 8-7 (7-5).
Epstein and Lin beat Ohio Northern's Amy Grace Beebe and Lauren Okrainec 8-2 in the Round of 16 and moved on to beat Chicago's Jane Wong and Chong 8-4 in the quarterfinal. They will face Chan and Zou in tomorrow's semifinal.
