OBERLIN, Ohio – The No. 19/20 Washington University in St. Louis football team had another dominant performance on Saturday, beating Oberlin 79-0. It is the second-most points ever scored by the Bears and the second time this season WashU has scored more than 70 points (73-0 in the 2026 season opener against Rhodes).
With the win, the Bears are 4-0 on the year with a 3-0 mark in NCAC play.
WashU wasted no time in getting on the board, scoring on its first drive of the game after forcing an Oberlin punt. The drive was four plays, culminating in a two-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback
Levi Moore. Junior
Matias Adrogue's kick was good for a 7-0 Bears' lead.
Another three-and-out drive from the Yeomen put the ball back in WashU's hands. After a quick nine-yard pass from Moore to senior
Makael Carter, sophomore
Brayden Lewis ran for a 50-yard touchdown. Adrogue hit the extra-point kick for a 14-0 lead with 10:36 remaining in the first quarter.
Senior
Henry Murr was credited with a quarterback hurry on the final play of Oberlin's drive, resulting in another punt from the Yeomen.
The Bears put together a three-play drive leading to their next touchdown. On the second play of the drive, senior
Matthew Kinoshita ran for 51 yards and Moore finished off the drive with an 18-yard touchdown. Adrogue's kick was good for a 21-0 WashU advantage.
Following another punt from Oberlin, the Bears had a two-play drive, ultimately ending with senior
Drew Bomar and Moore connecting for a 41-yard touchdown pass. Adrogue's kick was good for a 28-0 lead with 4:20 remaining in the first quarter.
On their final drive of the first quarter, the Bears put together a four-play scoring drive. On the final play, junior
Alexander Singh connected with senior
Colin Donahue for a nine-yard touchdown pass. Adrogue connected on the extra-point kick for a 35-0 lead.
On the first drive of the second quarter, the Bears reached the 15 before lining up for a 32-yard field goal. Adrogue's attempt was good, making it a 38-0 game.
After Oberlin punted the ball, the Bears took it down to the 17 and Adrogue connected on a 34-yard field goal for a 41-0 lead with 9:16 remaining in the second quarter.
The Yeomen were forced to punt on the next drive and the Bears went on a six-play scoring drive, ultimately ending in a three-yard touchdown run from first-year
Cole Neupaver. Adrogue's kick was good, extending WashU's lead to 48-0.
The Bears had the ball to open the second half and started with a three-play scoring drive, resulting in sophomore
Jack Behl connecting with junior
Lucas Blumenthal for a four-yard touchdown. First-year
Caden An's kick was good for a 55-0 lead.
Oberlin turned the ball over on downs and the Bears brought their possession to the 16 before lining up for a 34-yard field goal from An, which was good, making it a 58-0 with 3:06 left in the third.
On WashU's next possession, the Bears went on a seven-play drive, ending with a 13-yard touchdown from Neupaver. An's kick was good, making it a 65-0 lead.
After a Yeomen punt, WashU had a five-play scoring drive. On the final play, junior
Jack Atkinson hit junior
Ryan Bienstock for a 39-yard touchdown pass. An's kick was good for a 72-0 Bears' lead.
The Bears scored their final touchdown of the game with just over 4:00 remaining on a three-play drive. Behl hit sophomore
Ethan Feldner for a 29-yard touchdown pass and An's kick was good, bumping the lead to 79-0.
WashU had 649 yards of total offense (251 passing, 398 rushing) while Oberlin had 64 yards of total offense (50 passing, 14 rushing).
Atkinson was 5-for-5 for 109 yards and one touchdown. Moore went 3-for-3 for 62 yards with one touchdown and Behl went 4-for-4 for 53 yards with two touchdowns.
Sophomore
Karsten Cornell led the rushing game with 115 yards on 16 carries. Neupaver had 102 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown and Lewis finished with 71 yards on two carries.
Bomar led the receivers with 41 yards on one catch for one touchdown. Bienstock finished with 39 yards on one catch with a touchdown and Feldner had 37 yards on two receptions with a touchdown.
Defensively, sophomore
Jackson Staley had six total tackles (1 solo, 5 assists) with 0.5 tackles-for-loss and a quarterback hurry. Junior
Conner Durkin had five total tackles (2 solo, 3 assists) with 3.0 tackles-for-loss.
The Bears return home next Saturday for a Top-25 matchup against John Carroll, who is currently ranked No. 7 in the D3football.com national poll.
