KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team began the ITA Fall Regional on Friday afternoon, hosted by Kalamazoo.
Singles
After receiving a bye in the first round, junior
Ally Lin beat North Central's Meghan McSweeney 6-2, 6-1. She will play Lake Forest's Lilliam Dockal tomorrow in the Round of 32.
First-year
Emilie Lew had a bye in the first round and defeated Hope's Sophia Grzesiak 7-5, 6-2. She will play Kenyon's Ana Brand tomorrow in the Round of 32.
Graduate student
Leila Epstein earned a bye in the first round and went on to beat Wooster's Elizabeth Meiners 6-2, 6-2. She will play CWRU's Atra Biria tomorrow in the Round of 32.
First-year
Cassan Li had a bye in the first round and moved on to defeated CWRU's Victoria Vasquez 6-4, 6-0. She will play Kenyon's Chelsea Chakanyuka tomorrow in the Round of 32.
After a bye in the opening round, senior
Eleanor Archer defeated Augustana's Anna-Maria Huebel 6-0, 6-1. She will play North Park's Alexandra Pugachova in the Round of 32 tomorrow.
Rounding out singles was junior
Caitlin Bui. After a bye in the first round, she beat DePauw's Marissa Benge 6-3, 6-3. Bui will play Ohio Northern's Audrey Austin tomorrow in the Round of 32.
Doubles
Archer and Bui, the top-ranked team at the regional, earned a bye in the first round and went on to beat Augustana's Huebel and Colleen Larry 8-1. They will play Hope's Gabriella Rocker and Grzesiak in the Round of 16.
Slowik and Li defeated Trine's Emily Hatseras and Emma Beehler 8-1 after earning a bye in the opening round. The pair will play Kenyon's Chakanyuka and Kiara Komlodi in tomorrow's Round of 16.
After a bye in the first round, Lew and sophomore
Lily Brecknock beat Alma's Leah Wronikowski and Norah Lacher 8-3. They will face Hope's Kaitlyn Stievater and Anna Kolb in the Round of 16.
Epstein and Lin, who had a bye in the first round, beat Oberlin's Ana Cheng and Rachel Allen 8-6. They will play Ohio Northern's Amy Grace Beebe and Lauren Okrainec in the Round of 16 tomorrow.
