Hanna, Edmonds, Swaller Earn ITA Regional Awards

ITA RELEASE

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2026 ITA Division III Regional Award winners on Wednesday afternoon and the No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team was well-represented.

The Bears earned three of the seven available awards for the Central Region. Senior Eliana Hanna was named the ITA Senior Player of the Year, senior Amber Edmonds earned the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award and assistant coach Erin Swaller was named the ITA Assistant Coach of the Year.

Hanna has been a mainstay in the Bears' lineup for four years, this season taking over the spot of No. 1 singles where she currently has a 12-5 record and is ranked No. 5 nationally. In doubles with her partner sophomore Ally Lin, the pair has racked up a 25-5 record including a 16-2 mark at No. 2 doubles.

Edmonds has a 13-4 overall record including 6-3 at No. 5 singles. In addition to athletics, Edmonds is the Vice President of WashU Second Serve, the Vice President of Marketing for The Women's Network, part of the WashU Marketing Association and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Swaller has been part of the WashU women's tennis program since 2007 when she entered as a player and earned her bachelor's degree in anthropology followed by her master's degree in public health. Following her time as a player, Swaller remained an assistant coach with the program seeing seven NCAA Tournament appearances, four Elite Eight appearances and the program's first-ever national title in 2025.

Over the weekend, the Bears won their regional with wins over No. 32 Hope and No. 13 Kenyon and will continue their hunt for a second-straight national title on Monday in the Elite Eight against No. 8 Carnegie Mellon at 2 p.m. ET.
