ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team defeated No. 8 Emory 4-1 in the semifinal of the UAA Championships. The Bears will face No. 4 Chicago tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET for a chance at the program's first-ever UAA title.
Doubles
The Bears took an early 1-0 lead, earning the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
No. 2 junior
Eleanor Archer and sophomore
Caitlin Bui defeated No. 3 Emily Kantrovitz and Iris Berman, 6-3.
First-year
Lily Brecknock and sophomore
Sam Slowik beat Holyn Karp and Rachel Hernandez 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
No. 6
Eliana Hanna and
Ally Lin fell to No. 9 Izabele Antanavicius 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Singles
No. 3 Hanna earned the first singles point for the Bears, defeating No. 7 Kantrovitz 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
Senior
Nina Moravek made it a 3-0 match for the Bears, beating Karp 7-5, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
No. 17 Bui fell to No. 19 Antanvicius 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to give Emory a point.
No. 15 Archer went on to clinch the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) win over Berman at No. 2 singles.
