GREENVILLE, Ill. – In a split weekend, the majority of the No. 5 Washington University in St. Louis men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Greenville Select while those racing in the 5k and steeplechase competed at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
No team scores were kept at either meet.
Top Finishes from Greenville:
- Hammer Throw
- In a field of 38, sophomore Ian Murphy finished eighth with a throw of 49.43m on his third attempt.
- Long Jump
- Senior Carson Page finished fifth with a leap of 6.57m
- Sophomore Jared Dawkins was ninth in the event with a distance of 6.29m
- Javelin
- Junior Cal Newell was fourth while first-year Benjamin Long was fifth
- Newell threw a distance of 49.42m while Long was behind him with 46.95m
- Shot Put
- First-year Scott Cook finished 13th in the field with a throw of 13.70m
- Pole Vault
- Discus
- Triple Jump
- Long finished in second place with a leap of 14.02m
- Junior Nathan Scherer (12.67m) and Dawkins (12.40m) finished in 10th and 11th places, respectively
- 4x100m
- The WashU "A" team finished in fifth place with a time of 42.83
- 1500m
- 110m Hurdles
- First-year William Kamp finished in fourth place with at time of 15.37
- Sophomore Liam Elliott also finished in the top 10 with a seventh place finish in 15.80
- 400m
- Senior Alek Zavadoski was fourth with a time of 50.87 while sophomore Gavin Zeitz finished in seventh place with a time of 51.07
- 100m
- 800m
- 400m Hurdles
- First year Nathaniel Hordon was seventh in the event with a time of 57.76
- Kamp was right behind him in eighth place with a time of 58.01
- 200m
- Fairchild was runner-up with a time of 21.55
- 4x400m
- The WashU "A" team was runner-up with a time of 3:20.23
UW-Platteville Invite Top Finishes
- 5000m
- In a field of 343 athletes, senior Conor Daly finished in 33rd place with a time of 14:30.15
- First-year Charlie Houck finished in 41st place with at time of 14:34.64
- Also in the top 50 in 48th place was first-year Max Sudrzynski with a time of 14:38.20
- Junior Will Liu was 58th with a time of 14:40.89
- Senior Oliver Witt (70th-14:45.74), sophomore Will Ruszkowski (90th-14:52.11), and first-year Gavin O'Connor (94th-14:53.12) also finished in the top 100
WashU next compete on Saturday, Apr. 18 when it travels to the Wildcat Invite hosted by Culver-Stockton in Canton, Mo.
