HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team closed out its spring break trip with a 4-2 win over No. 9 Babson on Sunday. The Bears are now 10-1 on the season.
Doubles
The Bears won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 advantage over the Beavers.
No. 11 senior
Eliana Hanna and sophomore
Ally Lin defeated Dana Kamal and Alessandra Cristiani 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
No. 18 first-year
Lily Brecknock and sophomore Samantha Slowik beat Sarai Dorismond and Han Wang 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
No. 7 junior
Eleanor Archer and sophomore
Caitlin Bui fell to No. 9 Matia Cristiani and Alessandra Sikharulidze 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Singles
Bui won the first singles point, defeating Dorismond 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. No. 45 Lin gave the Bears a 3-0 edge with a win over Alessandra Cristiani 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
No. 7 Hanna fell to No. 1 Matia Cristiani 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and No. 17 Archer lost to Sikharulidze 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles for the 3-2 match.
Senior
Nina Moravek clinched the match for the Bears at No. 6 singles, defeating Mia Sorrentino 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
Senior
Amber Edmonds' match at No. 5 singles against Tina Liu went unfinished when the Bears clinched the match. Liu won the first set 6-4 and Edmonds was up 5-4 in the second set.
The Bears are back on the road next weekend when they head to the University of Mary Washington for three matches, starting with No. 34 Mary Washington on Friday at 4 p.m. ET. On Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, WashU takes on No. 11 Carnegie Mellon and wraps up the trip with No. 13 Johns Hopkins on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
