WashU Men's Track & Field Team Kicks Off 2026 At John Craft Invite

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field team started off the 2026 portion of their schedule on Saturday at the EIU John Craft Invite in Charleston.

No team scores were kept at the meet.

Top Finishers
  • Pole Vault
    • The Bears finished with the top three heights and five of the top seven.
      • Senior George Bourdier claimed the win with a clear of 5.05m, besting his top indoor height of 4.90m
      • Graduate Tommaso Maiocco and junior Peter Lichtenberger were second and third with successful clears of 4.85m and 4.80m, respectively.
      • First-years Carson Noble and William Coyne were not far behind, finishing sixth and seventh respectively with clears of 4.35m each.
  • Long Jump
    • Senior Carson Page finished in eighth place with a leap of 6.18m.
  • High Jump
    • Senior Eli Goldman tied for third with a successful jump of 1.85m.
  • 3000m
    • The Bears finished with eight of the top 10 in the event with senior Oliver Witt (8:36.32) claiming the win.
    • First-year Charlie Houck (2nd – 8:36.60), sophomore Sean Green (3rd – 8:39.32), and junior Will Liu (4th – 8:42.23) were the next in the top four of the event.
  • Mile
    • Junior Ryan Brinker finished third in the event with a time of 4:28.60
  • 400m
    • It was a 1-2 finish for WashU with senior Brandon Brazil claiming the win with a time of 51.25.
    • First-year Keon Preusser was next with a time of 51.56.
  • 800m
  • 200m
    • Junior Alex Gardner finished fourth with a time of :23.00.
  • DMR
  • 4x400m
    • The team of first-year Logan Fairchild, Frohling, Gardner, and Preusser claimed the win with a time of 3:25.51.
WashU stays on the road with a split weekend on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24. Some members will travel to the Friday Night Spikes at Rose-Hulman on Friday evening while others will compete at the Bob Teel Invite hosted by Missouri on Saturday.
