Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 1 Women's Soccer Defeats No. 25 Calvin 2-0 at Home

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated No. 25 Calvin, 2-0, on Friday afternoon on Francis Olympic Field. The Bears are 3-0 on the year with one more home game this weekend before a six-game road stretch.
 
The Bears broke through for their first goal in the 11th minute as senior Ella Koleno scored her second goal of the season on a pass from junior Sophie Viscovich.
 
WashU doubled its lead in the 26th minute as senior Grace Ehlert controlled the ball off a corner in front of a crowded goal and slipped it past the keeper for the 2-0 lead. Ehlert leads the Bears with four goals on the season.
 
As a team, WashU dominated the stats, recording 23 shots with 15 on goal and holding Calvin to just two shots all game. The Bears also had 13 corner kicks to Calvin's two.
 
Sophomore Olivia Clemons led the Bears with six shots including four on goal while Viscovich recorded three shots on goal. Both Ehlert and sophomore Cami Colpitts had three total shots with two on goal.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Kassidy Lanthier earned a shutout in her first start with the Bears.
 
WashU is home again on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match against Rose-Hulman. Prior to kickoff, WashU will honor its five seniors – Kerrigan Ferland, Ella Koleno, Marilee Karinshak, Kaci Karl and Grace Ehlert. The game will also be the team's cancer awareness game.
