ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team won two of the three major postseason awards, the University Athletic Association (UAA) office announced on Wednesday.
First-year
Caitlin Bui was named Rookie of the Year, along with Carnegie Mellon's Shelley Zinchenko. This marks the second year in a row the Bears have earned the Rookie of the Year award.
Additionally, Head Coach
Paige Madara and assistant coach
Erin Swaller were named the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year. It marks the sixth time in program history that the Bears' coaching staff has earned the award and the first time since 2005.
Bui also earned a spot on the first team for No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. For singles, the first-year has an overall record of 18-4 on the year with a 16-3 mark in dual action. Primarily playing at second doubles, Bui has a 13-3 mark in that slot and has gone 9-1 in her last 10 competitions.
Playing at No. 1 doubles with sophomore
Eleanor Archer, the duo is currently ranked No. 1 in the country with a 22-4 record including 15-3 in dual matches. Bui and Archer have lost just three matches at No. 1 doubles for a 15-3 record and are currently riding an 11-game winning streak.
In addition to a first team nod at No. 1 doubles with Bui, Archer was also named to the first team for No. 1 singles. The sophomore has a 13-8 overall record with a 10-6 dual meet mark. She has a 9-6 record at No. 1 singles as the Bears head into the postseason. These honors mark the fourth and fifth for Archer as she was named to the second team for both singles and doubles along with being the Rookie of the Year a season ago.
Junior
Eliana Hanna earned a spot on the second team for No. 3 singles. Posting a 15-5 overall mark with an 11-4 record in dual matches, Hanna has won her last three matches. She is 10-4 this year at No. 3 singles.
First-year

While the pair has also played at No. 2 doubles, they have posted a 5-0 record since moving to No. 3 doubles. Hanna now has four UAA honors to her name after earning a first team nod for doubles and a second team nod for singles last season.
