No. 10 Women's Tennis Finishes Third at UAA Championships; Defeats No. 9 Carnegie Mellon

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 10 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team finished third at the UAA Championships, defeating No. 9 Carnegie Mellon 4-0 on Saturday morning. The Bears are 13-7 on the season.
 
Doubles
The Bears won the doubles point, taking two of the three doubles matches.
 
The No. 1-ranked duo of sophomore Eleanor Archer and first year Caitlin Bui defeated No. 23 Zoe Angell and Anna Chow 6-3.
 
Junior Eliana Hanna and first-year Ally Lin defeated Anika Joshi and Shelly Zinchencko 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
 
Junior Amber Edmonds and first-year Sam Slowik fell to Divya Venkatarama and Ancele Dolensek 1-6 at No. 2 doubles.
 
Singles
Hanna picked up the first singles point for WashU, defeating No. 30 Dolensek 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
 
Junior Nina Moravek won the next point, topping Manuela Van Cotthem 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.
 
No. 10 Bui clinched the match for the Bears, beating No. 49 Sarah Yang 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
 
No. 24 Archer won her first set at No. 1 singles over No. 9 Zinchencko and fell 0-6 in the second set. Archer was up 3-2 when the match was halted.
 
Lin beat Venkatarama 6-2 in the first set at No. 4 singles and fell 3-6 in the second set. The third set was tied 3-3 when the match ended.
 
Edmonds fell to Victoria Gazda 3-6 in the first set before coming back to win the second set 7-5 (7-5). Edmonds was up 3-1 when the match finished.
 
The Bears are finished with competition for the regular-season and await their fate for the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA selection show will air at 12 p.m. ET on Monday, May 5. Individual qualifiers will be announced via press release on Wednesday, May 7.
