No. 10 Women's Tennis Falls to No. 1 Chicago in UAA Semifinal, 4-3

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 10 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker to No. 1 Chicago in the UAA semifinal, falling 4-3.
 
The Bears play Carnegie Mellon in the third-place match tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. ET.
 
Doubles
The Bears won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead.
 
Junior Amber Edmonds and first-year Sam Slowik defeated Shianna Guo and Lauren Khou 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
 
Junior Eliana Hanna and first-year Ally Lin defeated Sylwia Mikos and Erica Ekstrand 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
 
No. 1-ranked duo of sophomore Eleanor Archer and first-year Caitlin Bui were up 5-4 on Oliwia Mikos and Charlotte Klein when the doubles point was decided.
 
Singles
Hanna gave the Bears a 2-0 edge with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Nicole Geller at No. 3 singles.
 
The Maroons scored the next two points to make it an even 2-2 match.
 
Edmonds fell to Clara Zou 1-6, 2-6 at No. 5 singles and junior Nina Moravek lost to Brooke Pedersen 1-6, 4-6 at No. 6 singles.
 
Lin picked up the next point for WashU, defeating Sarena Biria 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, making it a 3-2 match in favor of the Bears.
 
Bui fell to No. 27 Sylwia Mikos 2-6, 4-6 at No. 2 singles to make it an even 3-3 match.
 
The match came down to sophomore Eleanor Archer and Erica Ekstrand at No. 1 singles. Ekstrand won the first set 6-4 and Archer took the second set 6-4. In a back-and-forth match, Ekstrand came out on top, 6-4.
