ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Washington University in St. Louis baseball alum Caleb Durbin has been called up to the Big Leagues by the Milwaukee Brewers ahead of this weekend's series against the A's.
This marks Durbin's Major League debut after being drafted in 2021 in the 14th round by the Atlanta Braves. Since then, he has made stops at all levels of professional baseball including A, AA, and AAA, with his most recent action being with Milwaukee's AAA team, the Nashville Sounds.
Drafted at the end of his junior year, Durbin was a key component of the Bears' 2021 Division III World Series run. At the World Series, he recorded eight RBIs, five runs, including two home runs, 10 hits, and four stolen bases. He was one of three Bears named to the 2021 NCAA Division III World Series All-Tournament Team.
Durbin finished his junior season with a .385 batting average, 46 runs on 62 hits, 16 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 47 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases. He was the toughest batter to strike out in Division III with over 94 at-bats. Durbin received ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Central Region honors as well as All-UAA honors.
During his career at WashU, Durbin played in 93 games and finished with a career batting average of .386. He made 365 plate appearances, scoring 117 runs, recording 141 hits including 10 home runs and 89 RBIs. He had a career on-base percentage of .477 and stole 39 bases. He was a three-time All-UAA Selection, UAA Rookie of the Year, and the D3baseball Central Region Rookie of the Year in 2019.
The first game of the three-game series against the A's begins at 7:10 p.m. CT Friday evening. Saturday's game is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CT and Sunday's for 1:10 p.m. CT.
