No. 1 Women's Outdoor Track And Field Wins Multiple Events at Greenville Select

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis outdoor track and field team continued its stretch of meets with several event winners on Saturday at the Greenville Select meet.
Top Finishes:
  • High Jump
    • It was a 1-2 finish for the Bears with graduate Ebun Opata and sophomore Olivia Theisen both finishing with a height of 1.63m.
    • Opata took the event win due to the tiebreaker of when she cleared the height.
  • Pole Vault
  • Long Jump
    • Opata won her second event of the day with a leap of 5.74m on her first attempt.
    • Theisen was fifth with jump of 5.23m.
  • Discus
  • Hammer Throw
    • Senior Taylor Simpson finished on the podium for the event with a throw of 45.97.
  • Javelin
    • Senior Molly Morton threw 31.47 on her second and sixth attempts to finish in third place.
  • Shot Put
    • Bothe won the event with a throw of 13.88 on her third attempt.
    • All of her attempts would have been the top mark on the day.
  • 5000m
    • Sophomore Avery Nason won the event with a time of 18:57.08; it was over a minute better than second place.
  • 4x100
    • The WashU A team took the win with a time of 46.46.
  • 1500m
  • 100m Hurdles
  • 400m
  • 100m
    • Junior Jasmine Wright finished with at time of 11.99 to take first place with Gay taking second in a time of 12.13.
  • 800m
  • 400m Hurdles
  • 200m
    • Stewart finished runner-up with a time of 24.81.
    • First-year Leah Phelps finished in seventh place with a time of 25.89.
  • Steeplechase
    • It was another 1-2-3 finish for the Bears.
    • Senior Abby Patterson finished first with a time of 10:56.11
    • Sister Julia Patterson was second with a time of 11:04.36
    • Junior Riley Clark was third with a time of 11:11.77
  • 4x400m
    • The WashU "A" team was first with a time of 3:47.25
    • The WashU "B" team was third with a time of 3:50.97
 
WashU will be back in action next Saturday, April 19 when it travels to Missouri S&T for the Dewey Allgood Invitational.
