WAVERLY, Iowa -- It was just the distance medley relay (DMR) for the No. 2 women's and No. 24 men's track & field teams on Friday night at the NCAA Qualifer being hosted by Wartburg.
On the women's side, the team of junior
Katie Rector, sophomore
Caroline Echols, senior
Izzy Gorton, and senior
Virginia Pridgen finished first in the DMR with a time of 11:43.71. The mark not only won the event, but also is now the 5th best in Div. III this season, the final weekend before the NCAA Championships.
The WashU "B" team of senior
Sophie Bekins, sophomore
Cate Christopher, first-year
Kalena Riemer, and first-year
Mackenzie Raue finished third on Friday night with a time of 11:52.95.
For the men, it was the team of senior
Frankie Lynch, junior
Brandon Brazil, sophomore
William Frohling, and junior
James Corbett that finished second in a time of 9:57.80, less than one second behind the team from Loras (9:57.18).
Also competing on Friday night, three women jumpers traveled to Carthage to compete. Sophomore
Olivia Theisen finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.31m. Classmate
Sofia Rosenzweig finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.82m. Also competing was graduate
Ebun Opata.
