ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team hosted the first of two, back-to-back meets on Thursday and Friday with the WashU Distance Carnival. Over the two days, 1,400 athletes competed in five events, including: 10k, 5k, 3k steeplechase, 1500m and 800m.
WashU's Top Results:
- 10k
- Sophomore Vivienne Larson was the lone Bear to compete finishing in 52nd place with a time of 37:33.80
- There were 99 competing in the event
- 5k
- There were over 245 entrants in the event
- Junior Irene Williams was the top finisher for WashU with a time of 18:32.16, finishing in 103rd place
- First-year Sofia Sheldon was in a different section but finished just two spots behind in 105th place with a time of 18:32.42
- 3k Steeplechase
- Senior Abby Patterson was the top finisher for the Bears in sixth place wit a time of 10:49.47
- Twin sister Julia Patterson was the next WashU finisher in 21st place with a time of 11:06.41
- The final WashU competitor was junior Riley Clark, who finished 27th in a time of 11:22.23
- 1500m
- Senior Sophie Bekins finished third in a time of 4:30.53, more than seven seconds off her seed time.
- Junior Katie Rector also took time off her seeding mark and finished eighth with a time of 4:33.03
- Senior Virginia Pridgen was 16th with a time of 4:36.54
- 800m
WashU will host the 2025 WashU Invite on Saturday, March 29, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a special ceremony at 10:30 am to recognize the WashU Class of 2025.
