Harris, Brooks Named To D3hoops.com All-Region 8 Teams

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore Lexy Harris and graduate Jessica Brooks of the Washington University in St. Louis women's basketball team landed on the D3hoops.com's All-Region 8 teams, as announced by the organization today.

Harris secured a spot on the Region 8 First Team, while Brooks grabbed a spot on the Region 8 Third Team.

Harris and Brooks led the Bears to a 16-9 overall record. WashU also finished third in the University Athletic Association (UAA) with a clip of 7-7.

Both athletes were named to the All-UAA teams earlier this year, with Harris notching a spot on the First Team and Brooks on the Second Team.

This is Harris' second All-Region nod as she was named Third Team a year ago, along with being named the Region 8 Rookie of the Year.

Brooks' All-Region selection marks the third of her career, as she was Second Team the past two seasons. The pair led the Bears and the UAA in rebounding: Brooks averaged 9.3 rebounds per game, while Harris had 9.2 rebounds per game. The +11.4 rebounds per game as a team ranks ninth in Division III this season.

Harris picked up where she left off from her first season as a Bear, averaging 16.4 ppg and 9.2 rpg while shooting .594 from the floor. She totaled 10 double-doubles on the season.

During the season, she was named to the 2024 McWilliams Classic All-Tournament Team. She was also named the UAA Player of the Week on Feb. 24. That week, she also earned U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Player of the Week honors after averaging 29 points and 10.5 rebounds in the WashU wins over Rochester and Emory.

Harris finished fifth in scoring in the conference while ranking second in rebounding. Her field goal percentage was the best in the UAA this season.

Brooks wrapped up one of the best careers in Bears' history, averaging 15.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Like Harris, she finished the season with 10 double-doubles. Her 17 rebounds at Emory on Jan. 26 were a career-high.

For her career, Brooks averaged 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds over the course of 95 games played.

This season, she was named the 2024 McWilliams Classic Tournament MVP, as well as earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She was also twice named the UAA Athlete of the Week, on Jan. 13 and Jan. 27.

Brooks led the UAA in rebounding with 233 total rebounds, while ranking fifth in field goal percentage (.438) and minutes played (32.5). She also ranked sixth in scoring (15.3 ppg).
