SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In the final match of its spring break trip, the No. 9 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team fell to No. 21 Bowdoin 4-3 in a tight match on Thursday.
Doubles
The Bears swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore
Eleanor Archer and first-year
Caitlin Bui defeated Cara Hung and Isabella Hartung 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Juniors
Amber Edmonds and
Eliana Hanna beat Caroline Stuhlfaut and Jamilah Karah 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
First-years
Chloe Brissett and
Sam Slowik topped Suzanne Pogorelec and Zoe Sun 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Singles
Archer won the first set 6-2 before falling 5-7 in the second set against Pogorelec. Archer fell 6-7 (5-7) in the final set, which clinched the match for Bowdoin.
Bui defeated Stuhlfaut 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Hanna fell to Karah 7-6, 7-6 at No. 3 singles and first-year
Ally Lin beat Julia Ross 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore
Emily Chiasson won the first set at No. 5 singles over Hartung 7-5 but fell in the second and third sets 4-6 to lose the match.
Slowik beat Sun 6-3 in the first set before falling in the second set 1-6 and ultimately losing the third set 7-6 (7-1) to lose the match.
The Bears travel to Atlanta in two weeks for matches against Carnegie Mellon at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 29, followed by an 11 a.m. ET match against Emory on Sunday, March 11.
