MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 6 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team fell to No. 7 Johns Hopkins 4-3 on Saturday morning at the ITA Indoor National Championships. The Bears will conclude the tournament with an 8 a.m. match against No. 12 Sewanee on Sunday in the seventh-place match.
Doubles
Johns Hopkins won the doubles point, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
The No. 1-ranked duo of sophomore
Eleanor Archer and first-year
Caitlin Bui won at No. 1 doubles, defeating Ava Li and Kamila Wong 6-2.
Junior
Eliana Hanna and first-year
Ally Lin fell to Jay Xiao and Lia Melvin 3-6 at No. 2 doubles while junior
Amber Edmonds and first-year
Sam Slowik lost to Sydney Langer and Sahana Madala 3-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Singles
Archer beat Xiao 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 1 singles while Bui defeated Li 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 2 singles.
Hanna beat Langer 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles while junior
Nina Moravek fell to Sahana Sanjeev 4-6, 0-6 at No. 4 singles.
Lin fell to Melvin 3-6, 2-6 at No. 5 singles and Edmonds lost to Madala 3-6, 2-6 at No. 6 singles.
