INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 6 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team defeated No. 21 Kenyon, 6-1, in the spring season opener.
Doubles
The Bears won the doubles point after picking up victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
First-year
Ally Lin and junior
Eliana Hanna defeated Shadia Amado Aguad and Clare Hudson, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles.
Junior
Amber Edmonds and first-year
Sam Slowik defeated Maggie Shope and Lalasa Negireddy, 6-4, at No. 3 doubles.
The No. 1 duo of sophomore
Eleanor Archer and
Caitlin Bui fell to Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime, 4-6, at No. 1 doubles.
Singles
Bui defeated Lazaridou 7-5, 6-2, at No. 1 singles and Archer beat Amado Aguad 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
Hanna beat Nouiaime 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and Lin defeated Nagireddy 7-5, 6-4, at No. 5 singles. Edmonds topped Shope 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Junior
Nina Moravek fell to Hudson 1-6, 3-6 at No. 4 singles.
The Bears have a double bill next Saturday, hosting Rhodes on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. followed by UW-Eau Claire at 8 p.m. Both matches will take place at
Forest Lake Tennis Club.
