GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team recorded its third shutout in a row on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Rhodes, at DePauw. The Bears are 6-0 on the season.
First-year
Olivia Clemons continued to show off her offensive prowess, netting two goals in the win. Her first goal came in the 26
th minute as she took a rebound off the goalie and fired the ball into the opposite corner of the net.
She scored again in the 51
st minute, knocking the ball around the goalie and sending it into the back of the net for a 2-0 Bears' lead. The goals pushes Clemons' total to eight, which leads both the team and the UAA.
Junior
Kaci Karl scored her second goal in as many games in the 60
th minute, corralling the ball amidst chaos on a corner kick and shooting it past a diving goalkeeper.
As a team, the Bears out-shot Rhodes 23-5 and had a 12-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Senior
Gaelen Clayton recorded a team-high five shots while Clemons and sophomore
Sophie Viscovich each had three.
Graduate goalkeeper
Sidney Conner and sophomore
Charlotte Shapiro combined for a clean sheet for the second game in a row. Conner made two saves, one in each half and now has three-straight shutouts.
The Bears are home again on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. game against Illinois Wesleyan. The game will serve as Pride Day as well as Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day.
