ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team defeated Rhodes 2-0 on Sunday afternoon behind two goals from sophomore
Quentin Gomez. The Bears are now 2-0 on the season.
Gomez scored his first of two goals in the 24
th minute, corralling a deflection off a corner and firing it in low.
Gomez struck again in with just 22 seconds remaining in the first half. After Rhodes cleared a corner kick,
Eugene Heger got the ball and sent a hard cross into the box, where Gomez headed it in the left side of the goal.
Statistically, the Bears out-shot Rhodes 16-5 with nine on goal and tallied 17 corner kicks to the Lynx's one.
In the goal,
Adam Mallalieu made one save on the day.
The Bears hit the road next weekend for a 7 p.m. game on Friday at Aurora followed by a 1 p.m. match at North Park on Sunday.
