AUSTIN, Texas – Four members of the Washington University in St. Louis women's and men's track and field and cross country teams earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors, the organization announced this week. In total, the Bears have 224 Academic All-Americans in department history. The women's track and field team has 46 while the men have 32.
On the women's side,
Emma Kelley earned a first-team nod, her second-straight.
Ally Sarussi was named to the second team, also for the second year in a row while
Yasmin Ruff earned a spot on the third team.
For the men,
Loucas Xenakis picked up his first-career Academic All-America honor.
Kelley is coming off a historic year as she led the Bears to the 2024 Women's Track and Field Outdoor National Championship. Individually, she won the 400m and 800m national titles in the span of a half hour and anchored the 4x400m relay national title. Kelley also won the 800m indoor national title, setting a new all-time Division III record in the process. Following the season, the Bears were named USTFCCCA Program of the Year for the second year in a row and Kelley earned USTFCCCA National Women's Track Athlete of the Year honors.
Sarussi claimed All-America status in the outdoor 1,500m, finishing in third place. She also finished 10
th overall in the 800m. Sarussi finished fourth in the 800m at the indoor national championships and earned an All-America nod in the 4x400 relay.
Ruff won the outdoor pole vault title in May, clearing a personal-best mark of 4.06m to become the Bears' first outdoor pole vault champion in a decade. She was the national runner-up in the pole vault at the indoor national championships, clearing 3.87m.
Xenakis finished 10
th in the decathlon at the outdoor national championships, racking up 6,645 points over the course of the two-day decathlon. At the indoor national championships, Xenakis took 11
th in the heptathlon.
