MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for day one of the three-day NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, Thursday, May 23. Junior
Yasmin Ruff highlighted today's action with her personal-best pole vault of 4.06m to secure her first individual national championship.
With five events complete after the opening day, the Bears are tied for second with 10 points.

Pole Vault (Final):
- NATIONAL CHAMPION and ALL-AMERICAN!
- For the first time since 2014, WashU has produced a pole vault national champion
- Joining an exclusive list, Yasmin Ruff is the just the second Bear to secure an outdoor pole vault individual champion
- Anna Etherington won the outdoor pole vault event in 2014
- Ruff, utilizing a personal-best mark, bested the rest of Division III with her winning mark of 4.06m
- Ruff secured 10 team points for the Bears

- Senior Ally Sarussi turned in the second-fastest 1,500-meter qualifying time as she posted a mark of 4:32.06*
4 x 100 Relay (Prelim):
3,000 Steeplechase (Prelim):
- Junior Julia Patterson placed 18th in the 3,000 steeplechase as she secured a time of 11:05.46
- Right behind her, junior Abby Patterson corralled a mark of 11:06.08 to earn 19th in the event
