Madara Named ITA National Coach of the Year

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis coach Paige Madara has been named Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), announced earlier this week. This prestigious award recognizes Madara's exemplary leadership and her significant contributions to the team's performance both on and off the court.

"I am deeply honored to receive this award from the ITA," said Madara. "It reflects the hard work and commitment of our entire team, both players and staff. I am incredibly proud of our achievements this season and grateful for the unwavering support from Athletics administration."

Appointed as head coach in October 2020, Madara has been a transformative force for the WashU women's tennis program. Her leadership culminated in a stellar 2023-24 season, where the team advanced to the NCAA postseason and reached the Elite 8 for the sixth time in program history, finishing with a 19-5 record.

Throughout the season, Madara's strategic acumen and dedication to player development were evident. She successfully coached four players who earned All-University Athletics Association (UAA) honors, including the UAA Rookie of the Year Eleanor Archer.

"Paige embodies the spirit of excellence that WashU Athletics consistently strives to sustain," said Director of Athletics Anthony J. Azama. "Her leadership has not only elevated our program but has positively impacted the lives of our student-athletes. This award is a testament to her dedication, commitment, and vision."

As Madara and the Bears celebrate this significant recognition, the WashU community eagerly anticipates continued success and new milestones in the upcoming seasons.
