Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The No. 8 Washington University in St. Louis men's tennis team sent its five seniors off with an 8-1 win over Principia College, Monday, April 8. With the win, WashU's record now sits at 10-7, while Principia's record dipped to 7-8 on the year.
Doubles:
WashU came out victorious in all three doubles matches to take the 3-0 lead heading into the singles portion of the match.
The No. 1 doubles duo of senior
Gaurav Singh and sophomore
Colin Fox welcomed the 8-0 sweep of Juan Cachaza and Ernesto Botero-Diaz.
Senior
Henri Ohl and senior
Jeremy Ouyang registered the 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Jesus Soto Bosa and Juan Ignacio Zamora.
At No. 3 doubles, senior
Jared Phillips and senior
Akshay Saluja made quick work of Rafter Sprague and Kuda Sandi by recording the 8-0 victory.
Singles:
At No. 1 singles, Phillips spun the 6-2, 6-0 win over Soto Boso.
Playing No. 2 singles, Singh welcomed the straight set sweep, 6-0, 6-1, in his match against Cachaza.
Ouyang notched a sweep at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-1, after he took down Botero-Diaz.
Graduate student
Sergiu Celebidachi garnered the 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles against Sandi.
Saluja recorded the 6-0, 6-3 victory over Sprague at No. 6 singles.
Ohl came up just short against Zamora, 7-5, 2-6, 10-3 at No. 4 singles.
WashU will next host No. 13 Dension University, Friday, April 12. First serve from Tao Tennis Center is scheduled for 10 a.m. and will serve as the front end of the doubleheader with the women's tennis team.
