ATLANTA, Ga. – The RV Washington University in St. Louis men's basketball team dropped a road contest to Emory, 89-76, on Friday evening. The Bears are now 14-7 and drop to 4-6 in UAA play.

Hayden Doyle scored a team-high 22 points in the loss to go with five boards and one block. Sophomore
Will Grudzinski had 16 points while sophomore
Calvin Kapral netted 13 points.
Despite WashU leading by four points at the half, Emory outscored the Bears 53-36 in the second half en route to the win.
After the teams exchanged baskets in the opening minutes, a 7-0 run for the Bears put them up 11-4 at the 15:41 mark. Grudzinski hit a shot from distance and first-year
Jake Davis put in a layup. Grudzinski tail-ended the run with a jumper to put the Bears up.
Following a pair of free throws from Emory, first-year
Ryan Cohen hit a longball for an eight-point, 14-6 lead for WashU.
The Bears took their largest lead of the game, nine points, when Kapral put in back-to-back layups for a 20-11 edge with 12:16 on the clock. Emory followed with five-straight to make it a four-point game less than a minute later.
A 3-pointer from Emory's AJ Harris cut WashU's lead to 22-20 midway through the half. Grudzinski put in a layup for a four-point edge but the Eagles' Ben Pearce drilled a 3-pointer to make it a one-point, 24-23 game with 9:24 left in the first half.
Up just two with 5:58 on the clock, the Bears went on a 7-0 run, starting with a pair of free throws from first-year
George Gale. Junior
Kyle Beedon hit a 3-pointer and Grudzinski scored off a steal by Kapral to make it a nine-point, 38-29 game with 2:52 on the clock.
The Bears were up 40-31 with 1:39 remaining in the first half and Pearce closed it out with five-straight for the Eagles to make it a 40-36 game at the break.
Emory stormed out of halftime to go on a 9-0 run to go up 45-40 at the 17:31 mark. After a jumper from Doyle cut it to three points, Emory netted a pair of free throws and a layup to take a 51-44 lead with 14:57 on the clock.
The game remained within seven points, with the Bears cutting it down to as few as two points, but the Eagles went on a 12-2 run over a span of three minutes to go up 17 points, 78-61 with 5:54 remaining.
Back-to-back buckets from Doyle cut it to 13 points, 78-65, with 4:53 on the clock but Emory built the lead up to as many as 18 points in the remaining minutes.
The Bears scored the final four points of the game on a pair of free throws from
Jonathan Coffy and a 3-pointer from senior
Jabari Chiphe to end the game at 89-76.
WashU went 30-for-61 (49.2%) from the field, 7-for-21 (33.3%) from the field and 9-for-10 (90%) from the free throw line. The Bears out-rebounded Emory 33-27.
Emory shot 10-for-20 (50%) from 3-point range and was led by a 32-point performance from Ben Pearce as well as 26 points from Jair Knight.
The Bears will look to snap their losing streak on Sunday with a 12 p.m. ET game at Rochester.
