Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – The No. 15 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team defeated No. 40 Whitman 8-1 on Friday afternoon at Tao Tennis Center. The Bears are now 3-1 overall.
Amber Edmonds and
Eliana Hanna defeated Teleya Blunt and Arianna Castellanis 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while
Nina Moravek and
Eleanor Archer topped Jin Yu and Ilina Jha 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
Katherine Johnston and
Emily Chiasson beat Erica Mock and Sascha Wells 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Archer went on to defeat Yu 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles while Hanna beat Jha 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
Edmonds topped Wells 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 singles and Chiasson beat Julia Longpre 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. Johnston wrapped up singles wins with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mock at No. 6 singles.
Moravek fell to Blunt 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 at No. 1 singles.
The Bears host DePauw at Forest Lake Tennis Club tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. WashU will have one more match at home next weekend against North Central before heading west to California for their spring break trip.
