Men’s Track and Field Posts Five Event Victories at IC’s Hilltop Classic

Final Results 

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Washington University in St. Louis men's track and field team participated in Illinois College's Hilltop Classic, Friday, February 16. The meet served as a final tune-up for the University Athletic Association Indoor Championships next weekend. Out of 15 scored events, WashU won five. No teams scores were recorded. 

The Bears competed alongside Greenville University, Illinois College, Westminster College (Mo.), State Fair Community College, Knox College, Monmouth College, Fontbonne University, Eureka College, University of Illinois-Springfield, University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Truman State. 

Friday's Top Finishers: 

60 Meters: 
  • Elvin Binagi turned in a time of 7.22 in the 60-meter sprint to snag seventh 
  • Alex Gardner tied for 13th with his mark of 7.40   
200 Meters: 
400 Meters: 
800 Meters: 
  • WashU earned the top four times in the 800-meter race 
  • William Houser secured a time of 1:53.77 to welcome the event victory 
  • James Corbett corralled second as he crossed the finish line with a mark of 1:54.97 
  • Jackson Cox (1:55.63) took third, while Will Dehmler (1:55.87) grabbed fourth  
Mile: 
3,000 Meters: 
60 Meter Hurdles: 
  • Loucas Xenakis turned in a time of 9.20 in the 60-meter hurdles to grab a sixth-place finish 
4 x 400 Relay: 
High Jump: 
  • Jalen Dural (1.90m) leaped his way to a runner-up finish in the high jump event  
  • Eli Goldman hauled in fifth with a jump of 1.85m

  • William Houser – 19th – 1:52.17 - Illinois College Hilltop Invite 
Pole Vault: 
Heptathlon: 
The Bears will travel to the Big Apple for the highly anticipated UAA Indoor Championships, Saturday-Sunday, February 24-25. Saturday's action will begin at 9 a.m. ET, while Sunday will begin at 10 a.m. ET. New York University will serve as the host institution, with the events being held at The Nike Track & Field Center.
