Box Score TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. – The No. 15 Washington University in St. Louis women's tennis team defeated Division II Southwest Baptist 8-1 on Saturday evening.
The Bears started out with wins in all three doubles matches.
Eliana Hanna and
Amber Edmonds defeated Ghada Dirninger and Elsa Pascual 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Eleanor Archer and
Nina Moravek topped Giselle Garcia and Polina Paunova 8-4 at No. 2 doubles while
Emily Chiasson and
Katherine Johnston beat Paula Ballesteros and Leticia Luiz 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Moravek defeated Ballesteros 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles while Archer fell to Dirninger 1-6, 6-3, 10-2 at No. 2 singles.
Hanna defeated Pascual 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and
Karen Gao topped Paunova 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Edmonds beat Luiz 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Chiasson topped Garcia 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
The Bears have a pair of home matches next weekend, starting with a 3 p.m. match against Whitman College on Friday. WashU will then host DePauw on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Both matches are slated to be held at Forest Lake Tennis Club.
