CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team kicked off its indoor season on Saturday competing at annual Saluki Fast Start, hosted by Southern Illinois University.

Top Finishers
- Pole Vault
- Senior Yasmin Ruff took first with a mark of 3.95m, beating out the rest of the top finishers, all who compete at Div. I programs.
- Shot Put
- Junior Jenae Bothe claimed the win in the shot put with a throw of 14.44m, nearly outpacing second place from SIU.
- Her throw broke the school record and set a personal best.
- High Jump
- Senior Ebun Opata took home third place with a jump of 1.70m while putting up a top national mark.
- Triple Jump
- Opata had moved up a spot to second in the triple jump with a 11.73m on her first attempt.
- 60m Hurdles
- Senior Lauren Gay finished third with a time of 8.93
- 600m Run
- First-year Kalena Riemer was the first of six-straight Bears in the final results, finishing fourth with a time of 1:38.60
- Sophomore Cate Christopher (1:39.04, 5th), junior Elizabeth Wagner (1:39.58, 6th), senior Ruby Kaplan (1:40.21, 7th), sophomore Danielle Shipon (1:40.70, 8th), and senior Morgan Fowler (1:40.98, 9th) also finished in the top 10.
- 60m
- Junior Jasmine Wright finished fifth with a time of 7.629. Her time was .006 seconds behind fourth place from Murray State
- 400m
- First-year Hailey Weir was second with a time of 58.06 with junior Kylie Spytek finishing in fourth place with a time of 58.69.
- Sophomore Julia Coric was sixth with a mark of 59.05 seconds.
- 800m
- 200m
- Gay finished in third with a time of 25.45.
WashU will next compete at the John Craft Invitational hosted by Eastern Illinois on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in Charleston, Ill.
