No. 1 Women's Soccer Defeats DePauw in First Round of NCAA Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated DePauw, 2-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday evening on Francis Olympic Field. The Bears are now 18-0-2 on the year and have not lost a first-round NCAA Tournament game since 2014.
 
After controlling the opening minutes of play, the Bears put their first goal on the board in the 21st minute has sophomore Sophie Viscovich took a short pass from senior Gaelen Clayton to Sid Conner regional bracket 2024 v DePauwscore her third goal of the season and put WashU up 1-0.
 
First-year Olivia Clemons scored her team-leading 18th goal of the season on a breakaway in the 75th minute, giving WashU a 2-0 lead.
 
Offensively, WashU out-shot DePauw 19-3 with nine shots on goal to the Tigers' three. The Bears also edged DePauw 6-1 in corner kicks.
 
In the net, graduate goalkeeper Sidney Conner made three saves to earn her seventh shutout of the season.
 
The Bears advance to tomorrow's regional final at 7 p.m. against the winner of UW-La Crosse and Simpson.
