DEMOREST, Ga. – The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated Piedmont University, 9-0, on Sunday to close out the non-conference slate of the regular-season. The Bears are now 12-0-1 on the year.
The Bears erupted for six goals in the first half, including two from senior
Sara Giannotti.
WashU netted its first goal at the 14:55 mark as sophomore
Madi Foley scored on a pass from sophomore

Meryl McKenna scored the second goal of the day in the 24
th minute, taking a save from Piedmont goalkeeper Maggie Leger and sending into the low left corner of the goal.
Less than two minutes later, junior
Kaci Karl made it a 3-0 game for the Bears, scoring on a pass from Viscovich.
Following a foul in the box in the 42
nd minute, Giannotti made a penalty kick for her first goal of the game and the season. Less than one minute later, Giannotti scored again, putting away a pass from first-year
Kate Martin for the 5-0 lead.

Cami Colpitts scored on a pass from first-year
Olivia Clemons with less than 40 seconds remaining in the first half to make it a 6-0 game at halftime.
WashU came out to add another goal in the 53

Marilee Karinshak netted a goal on a pass from Giannotti for her first goal of the season.
Sophomore
Allie Goulding scored her first-career goal in the 63
rd minute, putting in a pass from Colpitts to extend WashU's lead to 8-0.
Clemons scored her team and conference-leading 12
th goal of the year in the 81
st minute, netting a ball from Colpitts to put the Bears up 9-0.
Viscovich had seven shots including three on goal while Colpitts had seven with two on goal and Giannotti had six with three on goal. Clemons finished with four shots and three on goal and Foley had five shots with two on goal.
Sophomore
Charlotte Shapiro and first-year
Suzie Green combined for the shutout in the goal, each playing one half and making one save.
